Has Bush’s Mission been accomplished?
To choose as sixth snapshot for Mc Alister’s, I think George Bush’s picture in National Cathedral taken on 14 September, 2001 would be suitable if used. A gentle figure as Jesus in background addresses to audience. Interesting to see is that how photographer has waited for such a figure to snap a figure of Bush like Christ at behind with stretched hand and leaning body. This is a very common picture you can find in Google Image. The high and huge shot of Jesus may have efficacy on spectator of Jesus support and bias, particularly if he is a fundamentalist Christian.
Religion as the main factor in Neocons’ political ideology, you can not doubt. Americans are known religious people as themselves call their country “Jesusland”, even beyond “Garden of God”[1], that is historical case. As history of America tells the primary groups arrived in today’s U.S were Protestants escaping persecution and prosecution of European states. In new land they found themselves as Israeli slaves rid of Pharaoh’s oppression and named America the “promised land” and themselves as pilgrims coming to wilderness to settle and to tame its settlers, the Indians, so the war with European Empires as France, Britain, Spain and nation like Indians would be a new millennial mission to build new Jerusalem.[2]
